MAKE A LIST BEFORE SHOPPING FOR A HOME

Once upon a time I was a first time homebuyer and after searching for a home and realizing that what I wanted was not what I could afford I quickly had to come to terms with the fact that what I wanted was not necessarily what I needed at that time and that my first home would be my stepping stone. My first home gave me the opportunity to buy a larger home years later, but if I had not been flexible and open minded I probably would not have had the opportunity to eventually by the house that I really wanted.

So when you are ready to purchase your home it is important that you take the time to make a list.

What kind of list you ask ?

A list of the things that you want in a home and what you need in a home. There’s a difference.

I share with you some tips on the thought process that goes into making the list so you give yourself the best opportunity to find the home you want .

1) Your list may have a 2 car garage, but maybe a 1 car garage and a carport may work.

2) Another must have could be 3 bedrooms but maybe a 2 bedroom with a den which can be converted into a bedroom may work.

3) How about this. You may say you absolutely need those 2 full baths but maybe 1 full bath and a half bath may work.

if you narrow your search based on the “definite wants” you can potentially miss out on some properties that may work for you . My biggest tip for you is………….
Be flexible, be open minded and before you go shopping for that home make that list. Ask yourself what can you live without for now and maybe this home can be your stepping stone too.

I can help you navigate the buying process and help you make that list so that you have more optionsĀ  when searching for your home.
