You can still live at home and save money to buy your own home in the very near future. If you went to college and have to live with your parents for a while that’s ok too. You just have to be smart about it and realize that things will not be the same as when you lived with your parents as a small child or as a teenager. You can actually save over $10,000 a year just on rent because nowadays rent is over $900 for a 1 bedroom apartment and this is not including utilities, internet, etc.
This does not take away the fact that even though you live with your parents that you will not have expenses. You need to sit down with your parents and discuss where you can contribute but even if you pay them towards groceries, utilities the savings will still be substantial for you. Yes ! living with your parents is not the ideal situation for most young people but that’s why you have to be smart about it. You need a goal ! Set a specific goal and stick to it. In addition, respect your parent’s rules and know what they expect from you and do it. Most of all……Remember this…..do not be ashamed that you are living with your parents. Quite frankly, it’s the smartest thing to do when it is necessary and as long as you stick to your goal you should be able to be in a position to purchase your own home in no time……
